The bad news is we don’t get to pick how we feel (begin throwing the rotten tomatoes now). Things happen and we feel. The good news is that we absolutely do get to choose the situations, conversations and relationships that we put ourselves in and we absolutely do get to choose what to do with.Feelings are like toddlers. Some are fun and some are not. At the end of the day, like toddlers, feelings need to constantly be validated or acknowledged.As we allow ourselves to share our vulnerable and raw feelings, the really hard ones, we open ourselves up for connection.
We all are walking down, running down, stumbling down or even being dragged down a path of imperfection because imperfection is part of the human experience. There is a huge difference between healthy striving and perfectionism and when perfectionism is present it becomes destructive to ourselves and to those around us. Embracing the human part of ourselves is the first step onto this path of imperfection.
